Whose Streets? Climate change activists successfully shuttered DC’s busiest intersections during rush hour this morning with human chains and creative roadblocks. The demonstration coincides with the United Nations Climate Action Summit in New York.

Climate Strike: In Portland, a Friday climate rally drew thousands of young Oregonians marching downtown and across the Hawthorne Bridge. The aggressive arrest of who Black Portland youth during this demonstration has local leaders clamoring for an explanation. .

Kid Crimes: A school resource officer (y’know, those cops assigned to patrol elementary schools) in Florida is being investigated for arresting two children—6 and 8—in separate episodes last week. The 6-year-old child was allegedly arrested for having a tantrum.

Loitering While Black: Oregon Rep. Janelle Bynum, the state’s only African American representative, has accused Clackamas Town Center mall cops of racially profiling her teenage daughter on Friday night. According to Bynum’s daughter, she and several other Black friends were told to leave the mall parking lot for loitering. In response, Bynum is calling for a “loiter in” at the mall.

Face the Music: A judge denied Joey Gibson’s plea to fight his $1 million lawsuit in a courtroom outside of Multnomah County. That’s what happens when you make a habit of leaving your own jurisdiction to harass people living the next state over.

OLCC Strikes Back: Cider Riot, the company suing Gibson and his Patriot Prayer pals, is under investigation by the Oregon Liquor Control Commission (OLCC) for the way his staff handled a May 1 brawl outside the cidery.
