The End Hits ticket trading cubbyhole has some passes to see Thurston Moore and Kurt Vile this Saturday, July 23 at the Aladdin Theater. Want them? Of course you do.
Ezra Ace Caraeff
Ezra Ace Caraeff is the former Music Editor for the Mercury, and spent nearly a third of his life working at the paper. More importantly, he is the owner of Olive, the Mercury’s unofficial office dog. His writing has appeared in The Fader, The Stranger, The Onion's A.V. Club, ESPN's TrueHoop network, and countless fanzines that are thankfully long out of print. He makes a mean tofu scramble and yes, Ace is really his middle name.
This Week’s Mercury Music Section
Bethany Ng Another week, another Mercury music section to take with you to the music festival for “glamping” foodies. I hope the Hells Angel’s stab them all. (Oh, just kidding.) Every year we pretty much write the same exact article on PDX Pop Now!. This time around, we wanted to do something different: an illustrated […]

Laura Gibson – “Milk-Heavy, Pollen-Eyed” (Video)
Word around the End Hits water cooler is that Laura Gibson has signed a record deal with [redacted] and her new album [redacted] will be out on [redacted]. Okay, perhaps it’s a bit too early to spill the beans on the new album from the Portland singer-songwriter, but we can share with you a new […]
Let’s Get This Turntable.fm Party Started
Since the big ‘ol boss man is out of town—he’s taking a fanboat tour of the Bayou with Cajun newsman Matt Davis, or going here—us word slaves are letting loose and partying at Turntable.fm, which is cooler than Spotify. Come join our Blogtown room and played some (themed!) songs. Come join us.

Here is the 2011-12 Portland Trail Blazers’ Schedule
Catch the NBA action, coming ‘atcha like a behind-the-back pass from Luke Babbitt! The NBA took a moment from hurtling toward a season-crippling lockout and released the Portland Trail Blazers’ 2011-12 season schedule. Which, to repeat the first sentence, will probably not happen. But like touring a model home in a bankrupted development, we can […]
Beastie Boys – “Don’t Play No Game That I Can’t Win” (Full Length Version)
Following the release of the painfully mediocre Hot Sauce Committee Part Two, it takes a lot for me to once again care about the Beastie Boys. No way am I blogging their new video, not unless it includes cool toys, Spike Jonze behind the camera, and a bloody cameo from the abominable snowman. It does? […]
Beats, Rhymes & Life: The Travels of a Tribe Called Quest Opens in Portland on July 29
Directed by Michael Rapaport (master thespian and the voice of “Squirt” on Pound Puppies), Beats, Rhymes & Life is the much-anticipated and controversial documentary on hiphop icons Tribe Called Quest. I don’t know a lot about urban “rap” music, but I’m pretty sure this documentary follows the misadventures of young rappers MC Gusto, Stab Master […]
Tyler Keene Leaves And And And, Starts Log Across The Washer
As one of the singer/songwriters in And And And (not to be confused with Indian law firm Anand And Anand), Tyler Keene plays a vital role in the up-and-coming band. Make that, played a vital role. Keene has left And And And (according to a statement from drummer Bim Ditson, “Tyler is our boy, he’s […]
Spider-Man Plays Basketball. Poorly.
FilmDrunk seems to think that this absolutely ridiculous promotional still from the forthcoming The Amazing Spider-Man film/reboot is just slightly unrealistic. Or as they put it… Whatever this sport is, it makes Vampire Scarf Baseball look like a World’s Strongest Man Competition. I disagree. It looks shocking similar to one of my favorite NBA photos […]
