  • Why yes, I am awesome at PhotoShop.

I don’t know why you’d want to watch Peter Jackson’s first video diary from the set of The Hobbit(s) after I spent the last 13 hours making the above image, which sums up all that the films should be, but fine, here you go. Peter Jackson reminds dorks everywhere that he’s just as dorky as they are, there are glimpses of the films’ sets and the first day of shooting, Ian McKellen reminds dorks everywhere that he’s a badass, and there are some giant damn feet, because what else are you going to spend a kajillion-dollar budget on, I guess.

With honor and distinction, Erik Henriksen served as the executive editor of the Portland Mercury from 2004 to 2020. He can now be found at henriksenactual.com.

  1. Jesus Christ, Erik, Hogwarts isn’t in Middle Earth. I mean, it’d be cool if it was. Then Dumbledore would totally be chillin’ with Gandolf and they’d be all smoking their pipes and casting spells and shit. Shit would be DOPE! Fuck yeah!

  2. I had to pause my Fellowship of the Ring music to watch the full 10:30 video (I think the longest online video I’ve bothered to watch through in years). Damn. I love Middle Earth.

(Hogwarts, too! Hogwarts, too! I promise!)
