Somehow I never knew about the colony of feral cats that have lived for decades in PGE Park.

According to this recent Oregonian article, the cats were trapped, spayed, and given food and housing during the renovation of PGE Park into Jeld-Wen Field. Now the cats are back in the park, steering clear of humans and eating kibble from a specially-built cat-feeding platform.

Choice quote:

The cats’ ghostlike presence makes them almost mythical.

“They mostly come out at night,” Puckett says. “A lot of times, they’re a blur.”

Sarah Shay Mirk reported on transportation, sex and gender issues, and politics at the Mercury from 2008-2013. They have gone on to make many things, including countless comics and several books.

  1. The second part of that quote is incorrect. I believe it should read “…mostly.”

This is rad though. Everything is better with a colony of feral cats.

  2. Smirk — Alison is in charge of the crazy cat lady blog. How would you like it if she stole your Lycra Lout thunder about the new bike tightrope across the Columbia River.
