While the focus on MOD and Sold Out is most frequently directed at the many doings of our city’s busy apparel industry, the last year has seen a rise in design shops with proprietors who scour the earth to bring back merchandise from all corners for home and office decoration as well as to wear. Alder & Co. is one of the most impressive of these ventures, and they’re throwing a party to celebrate the one-year mark this week, offering special surprise discounts. That’s good, because buying one of everything I love in this picture might cost more than traveling to each country of its provenance:
