It’s no secret that Mercury film editor Erik Henriksen has a phobia of movie sing-a-longs. Whenever one comes up on the schedule he usually handles it by tactfully describing which act of suicide the idea inspires him to commit. But you know what? He’s on vacation, so I don’t need his permission to tell you that tonight his public sing-a-long enemy number one, Fleur de Lethal Cinematheque, is hosting a (actually fun sounding, if you can get over yourself) singing to/viewing of Purple Rain, complete with an ’80s fashion costume contest and dancing in the aisles. For anyone who’s never seen it (gasp!) here’s a totally not misleading trailer for one of 1984’s most memorable psychological thrillers:
The Purple Rain Sing Out is at the Bagdad, doors at 8, film at 9, for only $5 (21+).

Marjorie,
Collecting Erik’s suicide threats has become a minor hobby here at the Fleur de Lethal offices. I can only imagine what next month’s Grease 2 Sing Out! will illicit from him.
I rather enjoy being described as his “public sing-a-long enemy number one”.
I figure,as long as I strike fear in his film loving heart with the gaudy splendor of Moulin Rouge every year I can only inspire him to a greater, grander spectrum of vein opening journalism.
Thanks for the write up, I certainly do appreciate it .
Best,
Nico Bella
