This place is great, and somehow never as busy as it should be. The happy hour chicken sliders are like $2 and super, super good.

Also I miss Alder every day.

I like "handful of boiled comedy" as a descriptor.

"isn't a plate lunch dump"

Oh.

Is there any place in town that comes close? Big Kahuna has BBQ Spam, which is as authentic as it gets.

What the fuck are the people with the place where Alder used to be doing? It's been sitting with paper over the windows and an liquor license sign there for a goddamn year.

Also, damn you for reviewing this place, now it's going to be crowded as hell the next time I go in.

Mmmm, their menu looks great, Imma have to check that out. Thanks, Onstad.

I hate this place, to be honest. Maybe I wish it were a "plate lunch dump", but their menu never sounds particularly appetizing, for some reason, and none of the food tastes like anything.

I might like it more with a menu overhaul, but after three tries with three groups of people, I've yet to find anyone with more than a "meh" opinion of Ate-Oh-Ate.

I mean, other than Chris and apparently Alison.

I eat there all the time, crispy Korean BBQ chicken, it's great!

I like it too! I am participating in a food conversation!

The Katsu sauce is super tasty.

But the absence of Alder desserts next door makes me cry. I once scared the owner (or employee) there by trying to open the door when they were closed for the day. Apparently the new restaurant will be Levant: http://pdx.eater.com/archives/2012/10/12/s…

ATE-OH-ATE IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE RESTAURANTS. THE FOOD IS TASTY AND COMFORTING. MELOGNA IS A CRAZY PERSON.

Please wait...
