To all you assholes at concerts who stand at the back of the room and blabber away: high five! At least youโ€™re not as bad as the jackasses who stand at the front of the room and do it. Back or front, I just wish youโ€™d all shut the fuck up! Who taught you it was okay to talk over live music? You donโ€™t talk over live theater. You donโ€™t talk over poetry readings. God forbid you talk in the movie theater. (I fucking hate those people.) So why do you talk over the bands that work super hard in this town and barely get paid? (Here, Iโ€™ll answer for you trolls: โ€œโ€™Cause your band sucks, brah!โ€) Do you tip the bands you go see? Doubt it! Did you buy an album? Doubt it! Did you spend $20 on drinks and tip the fuck out of the hottie bartender? Definitely. Well then, the least you could do is shut your fucking yapper while someone is performing an art that is fundamentally sonic in nature. One that is not supposed to include your obnoxious, lame-ass voice.โ€”Anonymous

  1. This is an old, tired complaint that’s been made a hundred times.

And the only thing that really sucks about it is that it’s just as relevant the 100th time. Especially at the Doug Fir.

  2. Quit going to bars to watch shows. People drink and talk at bars. And if you look at why the theater became so successful, the ability to drink and talk during performances was definitely a part of it. Stay at home and listen to pandora if you want quiet. If you want to come out and be social at a show, be social, don’t be whiny.

  3. @Ryan Fitzpatrick…..sure, we can all just quit going to bars to watch shows….just as soon as the bands decide to stop playing at bars. or the bars decide to stop hiring bands to play there. but in the meantime, that’s where lots of bands play. So, what? we all just have to suffer because of some inconsiderate d-bags who can’t shut their mouths for just an hour or two out of their whole damned day?!
