Our Oregon inferiority complex always leads us to instigate a national search to fill critical government positions. This is great for the business that manage recruitment, but it’s terrible for Oregon. The “highly qualified candidate” is someone else’s reject and they will only be here long enough to barely learn how to pronounce Willamette.
Find someone who is rooted here, and understands our geography, needs, and culture. Make part of the new hires responsibility to train thier eventual replacement.
Save the recruitment fees, and create incentives for long tenure and success. Love and Peace.—Anonymous
