Going to the movies this weekend? Want to know what to see? Fine. BOOM. HERE YOU GO.
Youth in Revolt. In which Michael Cera takes a bold stand against being typecast as a nerd by playing a nerd… with an alternate personality.
The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus. In which Terry Gilliam goes to great lengths to salvage his Heath Ledger film despite the fact that Heath Ledger died while filming it.
Daybreakers. In which Willem Dafoe fights vampires. LIKE YOU NEED TO KNOW ANYTHING ELSE.
Reel Music 27. In which Neil Young once again desperately pleads for a maid.
The Loss of a Teardrop Diamond. In which a long-lost Tennessee Williams screenplay finally gets made into a… into a… ZZZZZZZZZZZZ.
And: For the past several hours, Lindy West has been valiantly trying to write a review of the new Amy Adams romcom, Leap Year—but she couldn’t because, in her words, “IT’S SO UNBELIEVABLY BAD I CAN’T MAKE MY BRAIN WORK.” So we don’t have a review for that one, but I believe Lindy’s panicked cry of dismay sums up her feelings about the film pretty effectively. Leap Year is the sort of movie that I’d usually make a mean joke about in this space, but because I’m deeply in love with Amy Adams, I’m just going to post a picture of her talking to a chipmunk! In related news, Enchanted is a really good movie, you guys should watch it.

Also this weekend: Cort and Fatboy (and the Mercury!) present The Iron Giant, tonight at the Bagdad. The Fifth Avenue Cinema has The Fifth Element. Repo Man is at the Clinton. Brutal Beauty: Tales of the Rose City Rollers premieres tomorrow at the Hollywood.
