Elton John is quitting the road. Today at a press conference in New York, the 71-year-old legend told moderator Anderson Cooper he’s retiring from touring to spend more time with his young children, but noted, “That doesn’t mean I won’t still be creative.”

And John’s not going out without a partyโ€”first he’ll embark on a massive three-year, 300-date “Farewell Yellow Brick Road” tour, which stops at Portland’s Moda Center Saturday, January 12, 2019. (Not sure why you’d change the word “goodbye” to “farewell,” but whatever, I’m not Elton John.)

“I don’t want to go out with a whimper,” he told Cooper. “I want to go out with a bang… It’ll be the most produced, fantastic show I’ve ever done.”

Tickets for his Portland concert go on sale next Friday, February 2.
