Doug FIr

Beloved East Burnside venue the Doug Fir is gearing up for its 15th birthday, and what better way to celebrate one of our favorite places to see live music than with some the town’s most favored acts. In collaboration with the Mercury, the Doug Fir is giving away a pair of tickets to see Y La Bamba (Oct 24 & 25) and Built to Spill (Oct 30 & 31).

Portland-based indie band Y La Bamba just released a seven-track EP called Entre Los Dos, the follow-up to their excellent 2019 LP Mujeres, which Rolling Stone called “food for the bicultural soul.” Led by Mexican American singer Luz Elena Mendoza, Y La Bamba puts the frontwoman’s self-contemplation and exploration of her rich heritage at its heart’s center, garnering the band critical acclaim, and a recent performance on NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert series. Boise, Idaho’s Built to Spillโ€”another indie rock band with Portland rootsโ€”is playing five sold-out shows during Doug’s Fir Anniversary month, and we’re giving away pairs of tickets to two of them!
