  5. I’m really sorry, guys – the wording was not meant to imply that AIDS is a “gay disease” or exclusively a gay issue. Somewhere along the way in my life, I got it into my head that Harvey Milk died of AIDS. Obviously I need to patch up my faulty education and getting out to see MILK would be a good first step.

    I’m glad you guys had such a strong and quick reaction to the comment – the way it read was incredibly offensive and I appreciate you calling me out. God, I feel awful.

  6. thanks for the apology… you should see The Life and Times of Harvey Milk, the biopic about him and his murder. he was an amazing figure in gay history, and his story paved the way for our own gay politicians..

  8. I’ll check that out, JS. In the meantime, I’ve spent the morning reading about Milk on the internet and finding out about all these terrifying laws that existed not long before I was born. So oral sex was a FELONY in California in 1970? Jesus, it always feels like two steps forward, one (big, long Prop-8 sized) step back.
