Nice work, MSNBC. Way to push the McCain camp’s dishonest characterization of Obama’s “lipstick on a pig” remark. Says Slog tipper Matthew: “Where’s the ‘No, because the whole thing is a manufactured controversy set up by McCain and his Rove-inspired gutter ball tactics’ choice?” Obama wasn’t talking about Palin — but, hey, so fucking what? Here’s Obama’s comment in context:

“John McCain says he’s about change, too — except for economic policy, health care policy, tax policy, education policy, foreign policy and Karl Rove-style politics. That’s just calling the same thing something different.”

With a laugh, he added: “You can put lipstick on a pig; it’s still a pig. You can wrap an old fish in a piece of paper called change; it’s still going to stink after eight years.”

Obama is clearly talking about Bush’s policies, which McCain embraces, and not McCain’s dishonest, shrill, POS running mate. Can you people at MSNBC read? And if it “crosses a line” for Obama to use the “lipstick on a pig” expression in reference to policies, what about McCain using the expression in reference to Hillary Clinton?

  1. Had Palin not referred to herself as a ‘pitbull with lipstick’ just one week ago then this case could be made.
But it is clear what his audience thought by their reaction.

  2. The coverage of this campaign is pathetic. And I’m not talking about you, Blogtown/Slog, but MSNBC et al for grabbing onto this kind of crap and making it seem like the conversation we should be having.

I’m taking a break from the elections until the debates. This shit is pointless.

  3. Even the highly enlightened posse of Lars Larson listeners don’t support this steaming pile.

Question: Was Obama’s “Lipstick on a pig” comment aimed at Governor Sarah Palin?

    Answer Percent
    Yes
    38%
    No
    62%

  4. Out of line? I think Obama is fucking brilliant! If anyone thinks he was not referring to Palin, you have been under that rock there a bit to long. Obama knew exactly what he was doing and who he was insulting when he made the comment, and I for one fucking applaud him! Stand up and fight these fuckers Obama, and for god sake, DO NOT FIGHT NICE!

  5. Its a great move by Republicans actually. They need something they can talk about. Plus they voted in Bush… TWICE. So its not like their base is discerning. I wonder who they think the fish is supposed to be?

  6. Those are awesomely unbiased voting options there.

    “Is he a jerk?
    1.) Yes, he’s a jerk.
2.) No, because being a jerk is just part of politics.
    3.) I’m an idiot.”
