I was out in Bend this weekend for the Bus Project’s Rebooting Democracy conference and thought you all would get a kick out of some of the names of stores we spotted during the long drive through high desert and snow back to Portland.
• Poles Galore Etc.
• CJ’s Gloves for Hides
• Wet Willy’s Karwash
And then this isn’t exactly a store name, but did you know that Miller’s Ford in Madras has “Ladies Day Tuesday”? Car lot, singles bar… same diff.

Those are pretty good, but nothing can top Kum & Go.

What about “Tranny’s” in Brookings?
Bend isn’t in Eastern Oregon; it’s not even in the Eastern half of Oregon. Bend is Central Oregon.
Ditto what Graham said.
@ Graham: c’mon. We all know that anything east of 60th Ave is Eastern Oregon, and anything west of NW 23rd is Hillsboro. (NB: If you see water, you are at the coast).
I thought anything East of the mountains was Eastern Oregon? Nothing to do with the actual mid-point, and everything to do with climate and topography?
Don’t sound so ignorant Sarah! It’s called Central Oregon.
You sound like a typical hipster Portlander who is so out of touch with reality.
Why didn’t you ride your bike to Bend?
@Reymont: Not according to the Eastern Oregon Visitor’s Association.
