Our pop culture survey of 2010 continues! While American Idol SAYS they’re looking for the next big superstar, I would posit that 1) they did not discover Justin Bieber, and 2) they ignored and laughed off General Larry Platt who actually did turn out to be a superstar in early 2010—for like, I don’t know, five minutes? But I would happily trade all the failed American Idols in the world for another chance to experience General Platt’s timeless song, “Pants on the Ground.” Congrats, Larry. You won 2010.
Bang bang, choo-choo train, let me see you shake that thang. Wm. Steven Humphrey is the editor-in-chief of the Portland Mercury and has held the job since 2000. (So don’t get any funny ideas.) More by Wm. Steven Humphrey

I like to just point and laugh at those that are saggin’. Actually, we all should thank them because it’s so rare for douche bags to self-identify readily.
