Recently a reader wrote to me for some advice on shoes (don’t laugh, it happens):

Ok, need some feedback on this trend and thought you could weigh in. Is this sneaker way too fad and obnoxious/silly or kind of growing on you, cute, gives some height to shorties who like to wear sneakers? Your thoughts? If these where not so expensive I think I might consider falling into the latter point of view but at this price seems like it could be a waste. I feel like when these first came out these were no doubt awful. High heeled converse = yikes, but it seems like they are developing a bit. Or am I crazy?

  1. I’d like to see a video of someone walking in these. I find that that’s often how I judge shoes – like, I can judge that they are crappy shoes based on how terribly people walk in them. I recognize that the wobbly, knees-always-bent high-heel walk is partially due to the wearers not knowing how to walk in them… but still that’s probably a sign that they’re crappy shoes.
