Nestled right smack dab in the Hawthorne shopping district, Fujin is a longtime favorite and possibly one of the only places in town to get really good Szechuan and Mandarin. Sometimes I swear they have my food ready before I've even ordered it. Try the crispy eggplant or General Tso's chicken or one of the seemingly endless list of specials.

When I last went here with a huge group (10 people?) the service was so fast! It seemed like we had barely finished ordering and they were already bringing our dishes out from the kitchen! The food was ok, what you would expect from a "cheap eats" place.
I'm not sure if it's supposed to be a dinner or a desert. Whatever, it's damn good (probably not so good for you). An yeah, I'll second that it's fast, you don't even need to call ahead for takeout since they don't make it until you get there anyway.
I have requested special orders any number of times, and they have no problem making exactly what the customer wants. This place has way above average chinese food, and lunch is a real bargain, with soup, rice, and egg roll included. Portions are also large.
It's easy to walk by Fu Jin and not notice it -- it's not one of those glitzy newer places with lots of brushed stainless steel and halogen lighting -- but that low key feel is part of its charm. The food here is so good! I think it's the ingredients -- they don't get them from some "Food Services of America" truck -- they hand-pick fresh vegetables at the market every day. Sometimes when I'm not feeling well I go there for fresh spinach, tofu and broccoli in garlic sauce, and it arrives at the table just glowing with freshness. It never fails to make me feel better.
This is so good and over the past 20 years I've run into all kinds of people who should know about it, but don't. The ingredients are fresh, the service quick, the flavors delectable, and the dry sauteed greenbeans consistently excellent. (and yes, the crispy eggplant is a bonafide winner.) Plus the mom, dad, son that run it are just good people. maybe that's the secret ingredient.
