Dear The Laurelthirst, Your breakfasts are the best in this part of the city. You make my hangovers better. I've tried new things every time I have been there and my mind has always been completely blown. I appreciate your quick and polite service, great coffee, cool music, and non-smoky smoking room. If you sold bloody marys, I would be there every weekend. It would be so awesome. Bloody marys! Come on. Seriously. Think about it.
Came for the vegan pancakes (served only on weekdays), which were good, but a little tough---a good substitute to satisfy a nostalgic craving, but not mind-blowing. Nice and big, though. Also had the spicy veggie burger, which was very good, flavorful and not too spicy. Potato salad was delicious, with lots of stone-ground mustard and chunks of hardboiled egg. Other pluses: Service was friendly, atmosphere not as hippie-rific as I was expecting. Over all, a nice lunch.
Regardless of what you like or know about the Laurelthirst you just SHOULDN'T miss Too Loose! They are fabulous and fun...and you'll just HAVE to dance! What a way to spend a few hours on the Fourth!
You just shouldn't miss the chance to see TOO LOOSE! What fabulous and fun way to celebrate on the Fourth! This Zydeco band is great for just listening, but I suspect you will HAVE to dance! ;-)
Wish there was a "NO STAR" option.
Sure, they have good beer and there is music, but the food is naaaaaaaaaasty.
ALSO! There were ants crawling across the bar and worst still, THERE WAS A DOG IN THE KITCHEN!!!!
repeat:
THERE WAS A DOG *LOOSE* IN THE RESTAURANT, ROAMING ABOUT THE KITCHEN AS WELL.
i tried to make mention of the off-putting nature of a loose dog in the restaurant to the woman who appeared to be a chef/owner-y person, who promptly turned her back on me and walked away while i was speaking. when i tried, politely, to address these issues to the bartender, (who had all of three customers [myself included] in the bar) and he was flippant and seemed annoyed that i bothered him to bring this to his attention.
oh yeah, and the "house roasted turkey" was dry and bland. their food is lazy and uninspired.
regardless of their music, beer and proximity to my house, i will never patronize laurelthirst again and will tell everyone i know to avoid it.
