Portland Monthly took a sneak peak at the new Either/Or, Ro Tam’s latest coffee shop that quietly and softly opened up on N Williams last month. The takeaway? Tam’s sturdy drinks program will soon include booze and she’s brought on a pair of former Fenrir chefs to design her food menu. The magazine also reported that the chocolate makers behind Woodblock Chocolate are opening a new manufactory where guests can do more than merely sample their chocolate creations—according to the story, you’ll soon be able to drink coffee, drink drinking chocolates, eat pastries and chocolate chip cookies, and order soft-serve ice cream. The shop could open on NE 17th as early as June 5.

“>broke what’s likely the biggest story this week: After 25 years in the business, Jenn Louis is putting up for sale her restaurant Ray over on N Williams and just might be retiring from the industry altogether. The website also reported some other bummer stories: Baoser, the Nintendo-themed bun shop on Hawthorne has closed, and O’Conner’s, the longtime Multnomah Village Cajun-adjacent restaurant with the Irish name <a href=”https://pdx.eater.com/2018/5/31/17413922/multnomah-village-oconnors-closing
“>has just closed its doors, too. It did have some bright news, though—if you live in Lake Oswego and Beaverton: Both those cities just got their very own Garden Bars.
And Bike Portland, the bicycling activism website got in on the food news game this week by breaking the story that the city’s 2035 Comprehensive Plan has gone in to effect, which means it’s now against city code to deny drive-through service to anyone riding a bike, at least sometimes. The code says the same thing for pedestrians.
And hey! One last thing! Remember brunch pop-up Hunnymilk? Well, its owner is bringing another breakfasty pop-up to Jacquline over on Clinton called Outer Darkness, which will serve homemade donuts, coffees, Irish coffees, and mimosas every Sunday morning and afternoon.
