Okay, so I’ve never had good luck in love. Not for a lack of trying, though. One day in ’08( pre-app era) i try internet dating. I found someone, and take her to the Montage. Things are good. Conversation is flowing, she’s laughing, I’m charming. When before the entree shows up, guess who walks in the front door? The ex-boyfriend. No, you can’t make this stuff up. Here’s where i make this story a betting game. Its not what you think, it’s far worse. No, he didn’t fight me nor did he even acknowledge my presence. Done guessing? The guy proposed right then and there. Downside of a communal dining restaurant, is that you have no privacy making awkward situations worse. The applause is deafening. Me? I’m just embarrassed and angry that i had paid for the meal already!
Bad Luck

I had one that wasn’t as severe as that, but within 5 minutes of meeting, her ex showed up and just sat next to us at the bar, ordered food, started talking with her. She said she was there on a date with me and he said “oh that’s cool” and just continued to sit there and talk with her the whole time. She occasionally gave me a shrug and an awkward grimace but never regained any sort of privacy. Eventually I realized that she was completely ignoring me and I took that as a sign to leave without saying anything else.
The Montage was your first mistake.
